GRADES 6-8

Grades 6-8 are the final three steps in the RAD graded syllabi. These Graded Examinations constitute Level 3 of the RAD’s Graded syllabi provision in the performance of ballet. Created in the early 90’s Grades 6-8 are designed for teenage or young adult dancers. They are an alternative to the RAD’s vocational grades and are aimed at recreational dancers but are also an excellent supplement to any student wanting to take their dancing further. Due to the inclusion of character work, unlike the vocational grades, Grades 6-8 have strong links to ballet seen in the theatre. It is hoped the students will be inspired by what they see and be able to link this to their class work. The link between the syllabi and class work is further enhanced by the use of music specially adapted from existing ballet scores.

RAD level 3 exams are now recognised by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Any student achieving a pass or above for grades 6-8 can use their result to add points towards their UCAS tariff when applying to university or higher education authority in the UK.
